Trust for the National Mall Receives Excellence in Historic Preservation "Community Involvement and Volunteerism Award"

The Trust for the National Mall was honored with the District of Columbia Preservation League's 2023 "Community Involvement and Volunteerism Award" for Excellence in Historic Preservation.

The Trust was recognized along with the National Park Service and our corporate partner Clark Construction for our work leading a volunteer effort to renovate the informational kiosks stationed near the veterans' memorials on the National Mall. These kiosks serve as a second home for volunteers, many of whom are veterans, as they fulfill their volunteer duties.

The Trust for the National Mall, the National Park Service and Clark Construction were honored at the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the District of Columbia Awards for Excellence in Historic Preservation. The ceremony was hosted in the Daughters of the American Revolution Constitution Hall on November 14th, 2023.

Thanks to over 800 combined hours of service from dedicated volunteers, including generous in-kind and volunteer support from The Home Depot, the Trust led the effort to create a safer, more functional work area for volunteers and rangers serving the public. Volunteers at the kiosks provide welcoming tours, name location services for the families of veterans and assist visitors with accessibility needs.
