Trust for the National Mall Receives "Award of Excellence" for U.S. Park Police Horse Stables and Education Center
The Trust for the National Mall was honored with the “Award of Excellence” for our work on the U.S. Park Police Horse Stables and Education Center. The Trust was recognized in the 2023 Excellence in Construction Awards hosted by Associated Builders and Contractors.
The “Excellence in Construction” Award honors the nation’s most innovative and high-quality construction projects and world-class safety, inclusion, diversity and merit programs. The Associated Builders and Contractors is a national construction industry trade association representing more than 22,000 members.
The U.S. Park Police Horse Stables and Education Center on the National Mall was a transformational project that replaced and upgraded the original facility built in the 1970s. This exciting project created a state of the art, sustainable new home for the horses of the Mounted Unit on the National Mall. Thanks to the generosity of its supporters, the Trust was able to lead the construction of the U.S. Horse Stables entirely through private philanthropy.
The Trust led the design and construction of this new destination on the National Mall in partnership with the National Park Service and the U.S. Park Police, with project management by Alpha Corporation and design/build construction by L.F. Jennings.
Architectural and landscape planning for the project was led OLIN Partners in collaboration with Tasos Kokoris AIA.
The brand-new Wells Fargo Education Center now welcomes the public to learn about the horses and their history. This transformational project was made possible by private philanthropy, thanks to our generous supporters.
