Teach 250: Commemorating American Military Service and Sacrifice | Designing Virtual and In-Person Classroom Tours of the National Mall

This month’s Teach 250 invites educators to reflect on the origins of Veterans Day, first commemorated as Armistice Day at the end of World War I. Using the National Mall Gateway, participants will discover creative ways to bring themes of service, sacrifice and citizenship into their classrooms. Discover ready-to-go walking and virtual tours and learn how to create your own custom tour to fit your students’ interests and classroom themes. Walk away with ready-to-use activities and fresh ideas to help students experience “America’s Front Yard” as a living classroom of service and remembrance.

Educators are invited to join the Trust for the National Mall, National Park Service and Destination DC for the next installment of this year's series of Teach 250: Inspiring a More Perfect Union. Leading up to the historic 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026, this teacher workshop series is designed to help prepare educators for the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by exploring ways to celebrate, honor, commemorate, and dive deep into America's 250 years of history.
