Symbols of Peace, Freedom and Sacrifice; the 20th Anniversary of the World War II Memorial on the National Mall

Symbols of Peace, Freedom and Sacrifice; the 20th Anniversary of the World War II Memorial on the National Mall

fRIDAY, jUNE 7, 2024

Join this program to mark two milestone anniversaries with the National Park Service: the 20th anniversary of the World War II Memorial on the National Mall and the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

In this final virtual program for the school year, National Mall rangers will explore the symbolism at the World War II Memorial; students will learn how the columns, wreaths, stars, bas reliefs, and other design elements commemorate US involvement in World War II. Students will also take a virtual visit to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial, where they can explore how this memorial remembers D-Day, a notable turning point in World War II. Come prepared with questions about the World War II and Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorials!

This program is designed for grades 3 - 8, but all are welcome to join.
