#MONUMENTCAM Premieres in 5G Just in Time for July 4th Fireworks

Providing world’s first 5G live-stream view of fireworks from top of the Washington Monument

Washington, DC, June 29,202  -- Looking for the best seats to view the greatest Independence Day celebration in the USA? Check out the Trust for the National Mall’s newest 5G webcam, #MonumentCam, now live-streaming courtesy of EarthCam from the highest point in the nation's capital - the top of the Washington Monument. See the views live now on MonumentCam — Trust for the National Mall

The camera upgrade was carried out as part of the Trust for the National Mall’s partnership with EarthCam. Thanks to EarthCam, you can enjoy 24/7 views, including sunrise and sunset, over the National Mall in high resolution by a specially designed camera. The device was installed this week into a secret, 3" diameter hole that was drilled by engineers in 2011 to enable climbers to rappel down and inspect the structure following earthquake damage.

“The Trust for the National Mall is grateful to our partners at EarthCam for upgrading the majestic view of America’s Front Yard on #MonumentCam just in time for the spectacular Fourth of July fireworks and festivities,” said Catherine Townsend, Trust for the National Mall President & CEO. “This new camera feed, available 24/7 to viewers around the world is an example of how our partners help bring critical upgrades to life on the National Mall to enrich the experience for all who visit – whether virtually or in person,” she added.

Now millions of viewers across the world can peer out through this tiny aperture. Our EarthCam partners used 3D-printed components and a laser-cut lens to maximize the image quality with their custom 5G camera.
