Notes of Remembrance: Taps Across the National Mall
Monday, May 26, 5 PM
Join us at 5 PM on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, for Notes of Remembrance: Taps Across the National Mall. Taps, a 24-note bugle call, was originally used by the military to signal the end of the day or lights out; now, it is a widely recognized song played at military funerals and to remember our fallen.
Notes of Remembrance will cap the Memorial Day commemoration events across the National Mall with a unified performance of Taps at eleven memorials and sites of future memorials that honor those who have made the supreme sacrifice in service of their country. Visitors on the National Mall are invited to pause at this time to reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day. Find a full calendar of events hosted by the National Park Service here.
Sites at which Taps will be played include:
Desert Shield and Desert Storm Memorial (future site)
Global War on Terrorism Memorial (future site)
Notes of Remembrance is coordinated by The Trust for the National Mall and The Doughboy Foundation.
