Leading up to the historic 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026, the Trust for the National Mall and National Mall and Memorial Parks are hosting Teach 250: Inspiring a More Perfect Union, a series designed to help prepare teachers for the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence - exploring ways to celebrate, honor, commemorate, and dive deep into America's 250 years of history.

In this month's program, the US Institute of Peace's Public Engagement Team will join our National Park Service Rangers to introduce educators to the resources they have available that can help connect students with peacebuilding themes and skills. Participants will explore the Peace Trail on the National Mall and learn about practical resources such as the Peacebuilding Toolkit for Educators. The US Institute of Peace will also preview forthcoming resources ahead of America's 250th commemoration.
