CBS Sunday Morning: Stumpy, the Washington, D.C. Tidal Basin's "celebri-tree"

CBS Sunday Morning: Stumpy, THE "celebri-tree"

CBS Sunday Morning shared a feature on “Stumpy” the cherry tree looking at how this little tree has drawn attention from visitors and viewers from around the world this spring. The Trust for the National Mall invites fans of Stumpy to make a gift in the tree’s honor here! Your gift will support the care and planting of future trees, including trees genetically matched to “Stumpy,” to ensure the bloom for generations to come. When you make a gift, simply select: “Dedicate your gift in honor or memory of someone.” Special thank you to CBS Correspondent and 2024 Cherry Tree Ambassador Faith Salie for joining us to share this important story.

Twice daily, Stumpy and many of the cherry trees on the Tidal Basin are flooded with water from the failing Tidal Basin seawalls. The long-planned reconstruction project will help address this harmful flooding that causes cherry tree rot, decay and removal. You can support our Adopt-A-Cherry-Tree campaign and help ensure the blooming of the Cherry Blossoms, a storied Washington D.C. tradition, will continue for generations to come. Thank you to all who have supported the trees, and in honor of Stumpy, this season.
