WHAT: Media Tour of the NEW United States Park Police (USPP) Horse Stables and Education Center, an exciting project made possible by supporters of the Trust for the National Mall. The Trust replaced the old USPP Horse Stables, originally built as a temporary facility in 1976 for the Bicentennial celebration on the National Mall. The new facility will provide a sustainable, state-of-the art new home for the horses and officers of the Mounted Unit. The brand new, adjacent 1,000 square-foot Education Center will welcome the public to see the horses and learn about the history of the Mounted Unit on the National Mall. Importantly, the project also creates a permanent and accessible path to connect the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial directly to the core of the National Mall.
The new Education Center is slated to open to welcome the public in June 2023, in time for the summer tourism season. U.S. Park Police Horse Stables and Education Center — Trust for the National Mall
