#MonumentCam to LIVE Stream July 4th Fireworks from Top of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C.

The Trust for the National Mall offers viewers, near and far, opportunity to watch the iconic Independence Day fireworks LIVE from the highest vantage point in town

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 27, 2024) - The Trust for the National Mall once again presents its highly popular, 5G webcam, #MonumentCam for July 4th, 2024—sharing a monumental view with people across the globe. #MonumentCam will broadcast the most iconic fireworks show in the U.S. from the top of the Washington Monument on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.! Web visitors can tune in at 9:09 PM on July 4th at nationalmall.org/monumentcam to get a bird’s eye view of the fireworks as they burst over the Lincoln Memorial.

In partnership with EarthCam, #MonumentCam streams live, 24/7 all year long from the top of the Washington Monument. The camera offers unparalleled high-resolution views of the National Mall’s iconic Lincoln Memorial, Reflecting Pool, Tidal Basin and the Washington, D.C. skyline. The device sits inside a 3" diameter opening in the facade of the Washington Monument that was drilled by engineers in 2011 as part of critical earthquake repairs. Climbers used the opening to rappel down and inspect the obelisk's structural integrity. Now, millions of viewers across the world can peer through the tiny aperture and glimpse the sprawling National Mall from anywhere on #MonumentCam.

“The Trust for the National Mall is grateful to our partners at EarthCam for this sweeping view of America’s Front Yard on #MonumentCam for the spectacular Fourth of July fireworks,” said Catherine Townsend, Trust for the National Mall President & CEO. “This Independence Day, the Trust and the National Park Service are looking ahead to a grand historic celebration just two years away, but 250 years in the making – the 250th Anniversary of American Independence in 2026. We have ambitious plans inspired by this monumental moment when the National Mall will play center stage. We invite everyone to join us and follow along at nationalmall.org!”

The Trust for the National Mall and the National Park Service have announced their commitment to restoring, preserving and elevating the National Mall inspired by the 250th anniversary of American Independence in 2026.  Monumental projects and programs will include: restoration of Constitution Gardens into a model for resilient, urban parkland; reimagining the historic performing arts venue Sylvan Theater at the Washington Monument grounds to reach its full potential as the nation’s center stage; and new civics education programming that connects students and visitors from around the world to the greatest living history classroom—the National Mall.
