The Trust for the National Mall Hosts a Monumental View Rooftop Reception

Monumental view reception welcomes friends, partners and national mall champions to celebrate cherry blossom season

The Trust for National Mall's Monumental View reception on March 21, 2024 gathered the National Park Service, the National Cherry Blossom Festival, supporters, benefactors, and special guests to an event overlooking the National Mall. Guests learned more about the importance of our work to support the cherry trees and our exciting plans with the National Park Service as we build momentum heading toward the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026. The Trust was honored to be joined by WJLA 7News Anchor Megan Clark who served as Emcee, as well as National Cherry Blossom Festival President Diana Mayhew who joined us to highlight this year’s festival calendar of events.

Speakers shared details about the important work supported by our Adopt-A-Cherry-Tree campaign and our mission and goal of endowing the care and maintenance of all 3,700 cherry trees on the National Mall. The Trust for the National Mall is proud to partner with the National Park Service to steward the trees. The cherry trees require year-round care and the planting of nearly 100 saplings each year to ensure the iconic pink bloom on the Tidal Basin will continue for the next generation. Damage from ever increasing foot traffic, effects of the changing climate, storms and daily flooding pose an ongoing threat to the trees.
