#MonumentCam is LIVE for July Fourth

Watch the Independence Day Fireworks in the Nation’s Capital LIVE and UPCLOSE from the top of the Washington Monument

(Washington, D.C.) - July 1, 2021 The Trust for the National Mall announces with excitement that its 24/7 year-round #MonumentCam will showcase the fireworks in the nation’s capital and provide spectacular views of the National Mall for the upcoming July Fourth weekend. The live feed from the top of the iconic Washington Monument, named one of the best live webcams in Washington D.C. by the Washington Post* , is available now and provides a unique view that is not available anywhere else.

On Sunday, July 4, at 9:09 pm EST viewers from around the world can virtually view the spectacular Washington, D.C. Independence Day fireworks display against the patriotic vista of the National Mall. Earlier in the day,

#MonumentCam will offer views of Fourth of July crowds gathering, and every step towards watching the fireworks soar from launch to ignition in mid-air. #MonumentCam, in partnership with the National Park Service (NPS) and EarthCam, is streaming live on the Trust for the National Mall website (here) providing round-the-clock views. On Sunday evening, the camera will provide a birds-eye view of the 17-minute fireworks display which will be launched from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. “While Americans can finally gather again to celebrate the Fourth of July, we are thrilled that we can offer everyone – from around the country and around the world - the opportunity to enjoy the fireworks from the top of the Washington Monument on #MonumentCam. It’s a view you can’t get anywhere else,” said Catherine Townsend, President & CEO of the Trust for the National Mall. “This year’s 245th celebration of American independence is especially meaningful, not only because we can gather postpandemic, but because it kicks off the five-year countdown to the 250th anniversary in 2026 of our country’s founding -- sure to be a spectacular showcase with the National Mall as center stage,” Townsend added.

The goal of #MonumentCam is to share treasured views of the iconic National Mall with the world and to build a wider community of support for the Trust and its efforts to restore, preserve, and enrich the Mall.
