Laura Sildon
Vice President of Philanthropy
Laura Sildon is a creative leader, advocate, and communicator who builds the capacity of organizations by utilizing partnership development and fundraising strategies. She is a natural relationship builder and enjoys meeting and connecting with people to make a positive impact.
Laura is excited to bring energy and philanthropic investment to its Monumental Moment campaign, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence. Before joining the Trust, as the Executive Director of Civica Foundation, Laura developed a donor base from scratch and ultimately raised over 100 million dollars to help fund projects that will provide quality, affordable medications for all Americans. This role was unique in its selling points and requires an understanding and ability to translate the intricacies of diabetes, health insurance and pharmaceutical manufacturing – all with a sense of urgency and humor. Before joining Civica Foundation, one of the accomplishments she is most proud of is successfully building her own consulting firm, The Jellie Group. The firm provided operational, fundraising and marketing/communications support to nonprofit and for-profit clients. Laura is a graduate of Leadership Maryland and Greater Washington, D.C. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts and then completed her Master of Social Work at the University of Maryland. Laura has been a board member of Leadership Montgomery, Black Rock Arts Center, Arts on the Block and an active volunteer with Neighbors Helping Neighbors program to help seniors in her neighborhood community. She is a proud mother of two (almost adult) children and two Labrador Retrievers.
