Senior Director of Special Programs

Destinee is the Senior Director of Special Programs at the Trust. She has a passion for program development, event orchestration and creating Washington DC-specific learning opportunities. She supports the Trust team on planning and development of its History, Heroes, & and Hope Awards program and leverages the Trust’s partnership with the National Park Service to enhance and grow educational content and opportunities on the National Mall. She holds two bachelor’s degrees in Multimedia Journalism and Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in Education Policy and Leadership from American University. 

Before joining the Trust, Destinee worked with DC Public Schools for over a decade in a variety of roles. Most recently, she served as the Assistant Principal of an International Academy for high school students. Destinee visited D.C. for the first time in 2008 and fell in love with the city. She is a prolific reader with a deep commitment to life-long learning. Destinee is dedicated to putting her skills into enhancing the experience for all who visit the National Mall. She was born in Los Angeles but grew up in the British Virgin Islands. Though she takes every possible opportunity to travel the world, she still spends winter vacations with her family sailing the crystalline waters of the BVI.
