Your Link to March On: History, Heroes and Hope on the National Mall
Dear Friends of the National Mall –
Thank you for making last night’s premiere of the Trust for the National Mall’s March On: History, Heroes and Hope on the National Mall such a success!
This was new territory for us: we wanted to do more than create an online version of our beloved annual gala. Our goal was to take this opportunity to bring a positive, inclusive experience to viewers all across the country for a shared celebration of what this symbol of America means to so many. Thank you for helping us make this goal a reality.
Last night’s live premiere was just the beginning. We hope you will invite your family and friends to watch the event HERE. The National Mall is a welcoming space that is more than a symbol of unity and hope. It’s a place where those qualities come to life—where thousands gather, united by a shared mission and message; and where families gather, introducing their kids for the first time to the beauty of the monuments and memorials to great leaders, as well as the beloved Cherry trees and grand mall.
Some of my favorite moments from the event were the personal stories about what the National Mall means to such a wide range of people. News anchors Norah O’Donnell, Jake Tapper and Eun Yang; philanthropist David Rubenstein; singer Maggie Rose and visitors from across the globe gave us a feel for what this space means to them. Joshuah Brian Campbell’s original song - Sing Out, March On – gave a powerful and emotional ending to the program.
I hope you will share what it means to you with us too. You can share it HERE or via your social channels with #MyNationalMallStory.
We are so grateful to our sponsors and patrons for supporting the event and our work at the Trust. Now more than ever, we rely on you to ensure that “America’s Civic Stage” endures and evolves for all.
Please keep our work growing strong! Make a gift, follow us in social, introduce us to your friends and colleagues and invite them to experience this joyful celebration that is designed to educate, inspire and help keep the National Mall growing strong.
With gratitude,
Catherine Townsend
