Event to Welcome Community to Meet the Horses of the Mounted Unit, Explore
Exhibits at the Education Center, and Launch Volunteer Recruitment
for America’s 250th Anniversary and Beyond
WASHINGTON (June 11, 2026) — NEXT WEEK, on Wednesday, June 17, the Trust for the National Mall and its partners at the National Park Service (NPS) and the U.S. Park Police (USPP) will host a public Open House celebrating the U.S. Park Police Horse Stables and Education Center. Running from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, this free community event invites the public to explore the state-of-the-art facility, interact with the horses, officers of the Mounted Unit, and enjoy family-friendly activities.
The Trust and NPS will also launch their MALLSTAR Volunteer recruiting campaign for America’s 250th and showcase new uniforms. The first 25 people to sign up to volunteer on site will receive a commemorative America’s 250th MALLSTAR Volunteer pin.
The newly restored U.S. Park Police Horse Stables and Education Center, originally built for the Bicentennial in 1976, was the first project delivered by the Trust and NPS in preparation for America’s 250th anniversary.
