WHEN: September 22, 2022 at 7:30 a.m.

WHERE: Lincoln Memorial Plaza, 2 Lincoln Memorial Cir NW, Washington, DC 20037, with work to follow

WHAT: Over 100 volunteers from Team Depot, The Home Depot’s associate volunteer force, and Clark Construction are providing specialized equipment and hands-on repairs to two information kiosks on the National Mall. The kiosks—the green-topped buildings near the Korean War Veterans and Vietnam War Veterans memorials utilized by the National Park Service rangers, volunteers, and staff—are in need of repair and updates to outdated and inefficient amenities. Volunteers will be restoring the interiors and exteriors to create a safer, more efficient, and welcoming space with new amenities, appliances and storage. The interior and exterior repairs will include: installation of new flooring, and storage; painting; cleaning; and other focused care.

In addition to providing orientation and information services for the millions of visitors to the National Mall each year, the kiosks assist families of fallen servicemembers in finding the names of their loved ones at the memorials built to honor their service. The facilities also house wheelchair services for visitors with accessibility challenges. Volunteers will gather in front of the Lincoln Memorial in their branded construction attire before representatives from National Mall and Memorial Parks, Trust for the National Mall, Clark Construction and The Home Depot Foundation kick off the day of service with brief remarks.
