The Trust for the National Mall, Humana, and the Humana Foundation are partnering to preserve a place where everyone, regardless of background, has the opportunity to connect, be active, and live their healthiest lives.
The Trust for the National Mall, Humana and the Humana Foundation were excited to announce their partnership during the 2022 fall Ball for the Mall to ensure the health of our communities and citizens on the National Mall and beyond. Catherine Townsend, Trust for the National Mall President & CEO, introduced special guest Bruce Broussard, CEO & President of Humana, to announce this exciting new partnership that will have generational impact for our country and communities.
The National Mall is the grounds of American democracy—both in the physical monuments, memorials, and iconic open spaces—and in the watershed and historic moments of our nation to which it has borne witness. It is our country’s Civic Stage, our Front Yard, a place of celebrations and commemorations, a place where all people have a voice, where all who visit can take their place in the story of our nation. This storied space is where Americans rally for causes, raise critical awareness about what matters, and spur others to action. The Mall is where we play, work, dream, live, learn, and connect. It’s where families, friends, visitors, students, and communities come together to advocate and activate, and to honor the principles and ideals on which our nation was founded—connecting us today and for future generations.
As we approach the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026, it is not only critical—but imperative—to ensure the National Mall thrives and endures as a powerful platform of unity, and of innovation. The Trust for the National Mall, Humana, and the Humana Foundation are partnering to preserve a place where everyone, regardless of background, has the opportunity to connect, be active, and live their healthiest lives. The National Mall is open to all with no barriers, and Humana is focused on removing barriers to good health for all Americans by addressing food insecurity, nutrition, and social isolation.
