Celebrating the Renewed Tidal Basin Seawall

Celebrating the renewed Tidal Basin Seawall

The Trust for the National Mall joined the National Park Service and the Department of the Interior to mark a major milestone, marking the grand opening of the new seawall, expanded walkways, newly planted cherry trees and landscaping near the Jefferson Memorial on the Tidal Basin.

The Trust was proud to help advocate for the federal funds for this project and to join for this celebration of the completion of this important project that protects the Tidal Basin's beloved landscape and ensures visitors will enjoy the cherry blossoms for generations.

The seawall restoration is an example of public-private partnership at its best. Private philanthropy and federal funding work together to preserve and restore America’s most historic spaces, critically important as we honor America’s 250th anniversary this year on America’s Front Yard.
