Announcing Northrop Grumman AS A New Generous Supporter of Volunteers-In-Parks for America’s 250th
The Trust for the National is proud to announce its latest corporate partner for Our Monumental Moment: The Campaign for the National Mall – the Trust’s unprecedented campaign raising $250 million in honor of America’s 250th in 2026. The campaign will fund transformational restoration projects, educational experiences and volunteer opportunities to ensure the National Mall endures, educates and inspires for 2026, and for generations.
Northrop Grumman’s generous gift will support the expansion of the Trust and the National Park Service’s award-winning volunteer corps, Volunteers-in-Parks (VIP), to help welcome and guide visitors on America’s Front Yard.
The Trust is grateful to Northrop Grumman for its commitment to volunteerism – both for its financial support and for the company’s recent “Mall Hands on Deck” day of service. Employees from around the Washington D.C. area spent a day volunteering to help beautify the gardens at the World War II Memorial, planting a new pollinator garden in the heart of the National Mall.
Earlier this year, during an annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony, the Trust for the National Mall and the National Park Service recognized Northrop Grumman for its commitment to the Volunteers-in-Parks program. Led by the Trust and the National Park Service, this corps of 300 dedicated individuals plays a vital role in helping National Park rangers bring America’s Front Yard to life for the millions who visit each year.
“Northrop Grumman’s support will have tremendous impact on our work, enabling us to grow the volunteer program… for America’s 250th anniversary in 2026. For that historic milestone, we’ll need MORE volunteers to greet the tens of millions who will join us on the National Mall.” – Catherine Townsend, President and CEO, Trust for the National Mall
Agartha Larbi, Vice President of Corporate Global Responsibility for Northrop Grumman, thanked volunteers on the National Mall during the award ceremony and talked about the company’s support for the Volunteers-in-Parks program.
“I am so inspired by every single one of you. Your service is such an important and meaningful commitment to sharing America’s history on America’s front yard.” -Agartha Larbi, Vice President of Corporate Global Responsibility for Northrop Grumman
National Mall volunteers serve as guides to welcome visitors at sites across the National Mall, including sites built or restored by the Trust like the U.S. Park Police Horse Stables and Education Center and the Lockkeeper’s House. Our expert volunteers greet visitors and help them connect to history. Their role takes on new and pressing meaning as we approach America’s 250th anniversary celebrations in 2026, when the National Mall will be center stage for this historic anniversary.
