WASHINGTON, DC (DECEMBER 6, 2023) — The Trust for the National Mall announces new senior team members that bring critical fundraising, stewardship and programmatic leadership experience to the organization. The Trust for the National Mall is continuing to build capacity as it begins planning with the National Park Service for America’s 250th – the American Semiquincentennial celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.

The Trust is pleased to share the following staffing announcements: 


Laura Gleason, Vice President of Philanthropy, formerly Acting Vice President and Senior Director for the past year, will lead the Trust’s philanthropic strategy, outreach and operations with a focus on relationship-based strategies and donor stewardship. Laura brings to the Trust thirty years’ experience in campaign and major gift fundraising. Prior to joining the Trust, Laura served as Director of Advancement for McLean Project for the Arts and Director of Advancement for the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. She has also served as Associate Vice President for Campaign Programs at George Mason University and Director of Advancement of the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University. 


Jeremy Goldstein, Vice President of Programs, joins the Trust with an extensive background to lead the Trust’s volunteer and educational strategy and programming. With over 25 years’ experience leading strategic programs, curriculum design, and professional development in learning communities, Jeremy has been a leader in creating innovative, learner-centered programming. He has served as a Department Chair and the founding Executive Director of the McCain-Ravenel Center at Episcopal High School, centered on developing experiential education and workforce learning opportunities in the Washington DC region. Jeremy also served as Director of Global Programs at St. George’s School. He has led educator professional development as a facilitator and coach with Leadership + Design and ISEEN. 


Stephen E. Peeler, Senior Director of Philanthropy, joins the Trust with impressive experience and will be responsible for developing and executing strategies and managing gift officers to help the organization achieve its revenue goals. Before joining the Trust, Stephen served as the Executive Director of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) Foundation, where he led the growth of the organization – increasing revenue from $2.1M to $9.5M in just three years. Stephen has also served in business development and fundraising roles at the National Club Association, ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership, ASAE Foundation. He is a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) and a Fellow in Charitable Estate Planning (FCEP).
